Terms of Service
PDFteka is free to use, and these terms keep the arrangement simple: use the tools on documents you are entitled to work with, accept that they are provided as they are, and keep every right you already had in your own files.
Agreement to these terms
They apply to pdfteka.com and to every tool on it.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. There is nothing to cancel and no account to close: closing the tab ends the relationship.
What the service is
PDFteka is a set of free tools for working with PDF files and images — merging, splitting, rotating, deleting and reordering pages, editing, signing, stamping, watermarking, numbering, cropping, compressing, converting, and recognising text in scans.
The tools run inside your browser. When you open a file, your own device does the work and the file is not uploaded to us. That is a technical fact about how the site is built, and it shapes most of what follows.
There is no account, no subscription, no trial period and no payment. We do not charge for any feature, we do not hold features back behind a paid tier, and nothing you produce is watermarked.
How you may use it
You may use PDFteka for personal or commercial work, on as many documents as you like, without asking us and without attribution.
You may only process documents that you own or that you are otherwise entitled to modify. Do not use the site for material that is illegal where you are, that infringes someone else's copyright, or that you obtained without permission.
Do not use the site to forge documents. The stamp and signature tools exist so that people can sign and mark up their own paperwork; using them to imitate someone else's seal or signature, or to alter a document in order to mislead, is a misuse of the service and, in most countries, a criminal offence.
Do not attempt to attack, overload or interfere with the site, to break the security of the systems that serve it, or to strip out our pages and republish the tools as your own service.
Your files stay yours
You keep every right you already had in the documents you open here. We acquire no license, no ownership and no right of use over them — we could not, since we never receive them.
Nothing you produce with these tools carries a credit or attribution requirement. The PDF you save contains your content and nothing of ours: no logo, no footer line, no trial notice.
Our content and the software we build on
The site itself — its text, page designs, logo and the code we wrote — belongs to us or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright. Please do not copy the site wholesale or present it as your own.
PDFteka is built on open-source components, including pdf.js, pdf-lib, tesseract.js and the DejaVu fonts. Those components remain the work of their authors and are used under their own licenses, which these terms do not affect and do not attempt to override.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
We cannot guarantee that a tool will produce the result you expect for every file, because PDFs vary enormously. Conversions to Word or Excel are a reconstruction rather than a perfect copy. Compression results depend on what is actually printed on your pages. Text recognition makes mistakes on poor scans and does not read handwriting.
Check the output before you rely on it, and keep the original file until you have. Treat these tools as a helper rather than a substitute for reviewing an important document. Nothing on this site is legal, tax or professional advice about the documents you process.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost business, lost time, or lost or corrupted data arising out of your use of the site.
Because the service is free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim connected with the site is limited to the amount you have paid us for it, which is nothing.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — for example liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your local law gives you, and nothing here overrides them.
Availability and changes to the service
We do not promise that the site will be available at any particular moment or that it will be free of errors. It may be interrupted for maintenance, by a hosting failure, or for reasons outside our control.
We may add, change, suspend or withdraw any tool at any time, without notice and without liability to you. If a particular tool matters that much to your work, keep an alternative available.
The OCR tool needs a working connection on first use, because the recognition engine and its language data are downloaded from a public CDN. Those third-party services are outside our control, may change or become unavailable, and are subject to their own terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with your use of the site, are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, including any right to bring proceedings before your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example if we add features, change how the site is funded, or introduce advertising. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date shown below.
Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the site.
